 Dutch School. Born Rotterdam 1877 and died in the same town in 1940“Landscape with pollard willows and farm”. Study drawing for a painting inscribed with notes. Excellent drawing by an important Dutch painter in excellent condition. The drawing was created around 1920. Gerard Altmann was a student with J. de Jong and studied at the Art Academy of Rotterdam and with Jan Striening and F.G.W. Oldewelt. He worked in Kortenhoef, Reeuwijk, Nieuwkoop and The Kaag. He also travelled in France. Excellent painter of landscape, portraits, still-lifes. He was a member of the Art Society Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam.
